Utushi is the art of imitating masterpieces of art and craft. Ceramic artist Shion Tabata specialist in this uniquely Japanese genre and value of utsushi. Her tebikae, sketches of masterpieces she has actually met and attached notes to, are the source of her ceramics and the secret of the charm of her work.
This section introduces 37 selected works from the popular series “Chanoyu Zoshi” (Fujin Gaho Degital, 2019-21) of tebikae, which depicts masterpieces from the Nomura Museum of Art.
